Data Sources

Market data on the Service is aggregated from the public sources below. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these organizations, and none of them warrant our presentation of their data.

What We Do Not Provide

We do not provide futures or exchange price quotes. The Service carries no real-time or delayed futures prices, and we have no data agreement or affiliation with CME Group or any exchange. Where the Service refers to futures, it is reporting CFTC Commitment of Traders positioningdata — who holds how many contracts, from the CFTC's own public reporting — not prices.

Historical briefs published before August 2026 may contain futures price commentary from a data source we no longer use. Those briefs are dated historical documents and are not updated.

AI-Generated Content

Market summaries and briefs are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude) from data in our database. The AI assistant additionally converts your question into a read-only database query, runs it, and writes prose describing the result.

Consequently:

  • The AI may misinterpret your question and answer a subtly different one
  • It may select the wrong report, date range, region, or unit basis
  • It may state a number confidently that is the correct output of an incorrect query
  • It may omit context that materially changes the interpretation

AI output is not reviewed by a person before you see it. Verify anything you intend to act on against the underlying report, which we link from every brief and chat answer.

Price Projections

Price projections are statistical estimates generated by quantitative models that analyze historical seasonal patterns, analog-year matching, and market indicators. They are not forecasts, predictions, or guarantees of future prices.

Projection accuracy limitations:

  • Accuracy degrades with horizon — 1-month projections are significantly more reliable than 3-month projections
  • Models cannot predict supply shocks, disease outbreaks, trade policy changes, or other structural market disruptions
  • Historical patterns may not repeat in the future
  • Individual cut projections are less reliable than composite cutout projections
  • Projections inherit any staleness, gap, or error in the underlying source data

Confidence indicators (HIGH, MED, LOW) shown alongside projections reflect the statistical reliability at each time horizon based on backtesting, not a guarantee of accuracy.

Data Accuracy & Timeliness

While we strive to present accurate and timely data, we make no warranties or representations regarding:

  • The completeness or accuracy of source agency data
  • The timeliness of data updates — release schedules change without notice, and source APIs fail or return incomplete data
  • The availability of historical data for all report types
  • The accuracy of unit conversions ($/cwt to $/lb, $/kg, USD to CAD)
  • Data derived from HTML scraping of published tables, where an upstream layout change can alter or interrupt what we capture

Source agencies routinely revise previously published figures. A number you saw yesterday may legitimately differ today. Data may contain errors, gaps, or delays. Always verify critical data points against the official source — for USDA AMS data, mpr.datamart.ams.usda.gov.

Third-Party News Headlines

Our news page aggregates headlines from third-party industry publications and government newsrooms via public RSS feeds. Those headlines and articles are the work and opinion of their publishers, not ours. We do not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for their content, and linking to them is not an endorsement.
